James Charles

James Charles Dickinson is an American YouTuber and makeup artist that was born on May 23, 1999. In his birthplace of Bethlehem, New York, Charles worked as a freelance makeup artist before launching a YouTube channel and posting beauty lessons. He was the first male brand ambassador for CoverGirl in 2016 after one of his makeup-related tweets went viral. Instant Influencer, a YouTube Originals reality competition series, was hosted, directed, and co-produced by Charles in 2020. In addition to collaborating with Morphe Cosmetics to produce a beauty line and release an eyeshadow pallet, he has won several accolades for his social media work, including two People's Choice Awards, three Streamy Awards, one Shorty Award, and one Teen Choice Award.

Numerous internet problems have dogged his career, including as his well-publicized fight with rival beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook in 2019 and his 2021 sexting with guys who were underage.

Early Life And Career

He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 2017 after attending. He said, reflecting on his time in high school, "I did get bullied a lot in high school and personally, I just ignored it." After being requested to apply her makeup for a school dance by a friend, Charles started working as an amateur hairdresser and cosmetics artist. He quickly started applying cosmetics professionally for females in his neighbourhood after teaching himself the skill.

Charles launched a YouTube channel in December 2015, where he started sharing beauty techniques. In September 2016, a tweet of him redoing his senior picture with cosmetics and a ring light went viral. At the age of 17, he was appointed as the inaugural male brand ambassador for CoverGirl, a cosmetics company, in October 2016. Social media gave the appointment a lot of positive feedback. His initial public appearances were in ads for the So Lashy mascara line by CoverGirl. In November 2018, he launched the Sisters Apparel apparel line and the Sister Collection beauty line, which was created in association with the cosmetics company Morphe Cosmetics.

In April 2020, Charles' YouTube channel debuted as the host of the first season of the YouTube Originals reality competition series Instant Influencer. He received the 10th Streamy Award for Show of the Year in recognition of his work on the programme. He would not return to host the second season of the show, YouTube revealed in March 2021. Charles appeared briefly in the music video for the song "Cancelled" by American social media star Larray in October 2020. Charles claimed to have lost over 80,000 followers after sharing a video and picture of himself tucking himself on social media in May 2022. He expressed his regret that his fans were leaving him, saying, "I'm so sorry that y'all are boring, u will not be missed." The Tab said that 130,000 followers had finally left.
